This Privacy Policy explains how Hari Kirtan (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and services (the “Service”).

We built this site for the satsang community and aim to collect only what we need to run the Service well.

Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account: name, email address, and profile image (if you sign in with a provider that shares one)
• Contact form: name, email, optional company name, and message when you write to us
• AI features: questions and prompts you submit for Ask or Arth (when you use those features)

Information collected automatically

• Usage: pages visited, kīrtan viewed, favourites, and similar activity tied to your account when signed in
• Device and browser: IP address, browser type, and general technical logs needed for security and reliability
• Cookies and local storage: preferences such as UI language, audio settings, and (for visitors) session limits for fair use of AI features

Information from third parties

If you sign in with Google or another provider, we receive the profile information that provider shares with us (typically name, email, and avatar), in line with their policies and your choices.

How we use your information

We use information to:

• Provide and maintain the Service (lyrics, audio, search, favourites, accounts)
• Process AI-assisted Ask and Arth requests
• Respond to contact messages and support requests
• Improve content, performance, and usability
• Protect against abuse, fraud, and security incidents
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

AI processing

When you use Ask or Arth, your prompts and relevant kīrtan context may be sent to third-party AI services to generate a response. Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.

Please do not include sensitive personal information in AI prompts unless you are comfortable with that processing.

Legal bases (where applicable)

If you are in a region that requires a legal basis for processing (such as the UK or EEA), we rely on:

• Contract — to provide the Service you request (e.g. account features)
• Legitimate interests — to secure, improve, and operate the Service
• Consent — where required (e.g. non-essential cookies, if we use them with consent)

How we share information

We may share information with:

• Service providers who help us host, authenticate users, send email, run analytics, or power AI features — only as needed for their work and under appropriate safeguards
